There are volunteers in virtually every corner of WDPAC. Some you meet greeting you at performances and on stage. Some you may not meet because they are behind the scenes doing the hundreds of tasks it takes to operate the building, office, marketing, sales, maintenance and more. There is only one paid staffer at WDPAC so without volunteers the doors would close.
Enter center stage – Dennis Jefferson, a serial volunteer himself has assumed responsibility for coordinating many of the volunteers. There’s plenty to keep him busy too. Recruiting, scheduling, training and in his words “helping them have fun and feel appreciated and important”.
Dennis has a strong theatre background having served as house manager at the Athens Theatre, Deland, FL. His volunteer efforts are at the very heart of his life having met his wife Christy over 35 years ago while volunteering at the American Heart Association!
His other volunteer efforts currently include: State of Florida Guardian Ad Litem (children when removed from the home) and Long Term Care Ombudsman (folks living in Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, etc); driving cancer patients who have no other means to their treatments programs of Road To Recovery and American Cancer Society; Board of Directors for the Friends of Deltona Library.
Dennis served in the U. S. Air Force for over 20 years and is a Viet Nam War vet.
WDPAC is honored and thankful to have him in a leadership role!
